The Chesaning Boys Varsity Golf Team competed in the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.  The championship field included 18 teams and 104 golfers.  The event was played at The Meadows Golf Club at Grand Valley State University in Allendale.  The Indians finished with a two-day total score of 662, firing a total team score of 333 on Friday and rounding out the competition with a 329 on Saturday.  Jackson Lumen Christi won the D3 state championship with a total score of 626.  Traverse City St. Francis was the runner-up with a total team score of 639.  Sophomore Luke Skaryd led the Indians, finishing with a two-day total of 152.  His overall score earned him a tie for 3rd place individually.  Skaryd shot a 3-over par 74 during the first day of competition.  His round included birdies on holes 4, 10, and 15.  He also carded 11 pars on the day.  On day two of the competition, Skaryd continued his consistent play by shooting 78.  His round included 13 pars overall.  Junior Justin Lange finished 25th overall with a two-day total of 161.  Lange was able to turn in consistent scores of 80 on Friday and 81 on Saturday.  Senior Quinton Everett ended with a total of 175, carding 89 and 86.  Sophomore Will Pierce recorded a total of 176 by shooting 92 and 84.  Senior Charlie Clover rounded out the Indian scoring with a two-day total of 178, firing rounds of 90 and 88.  The trip to the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals was the first time since 2015 for Chesaning. Their overall 7th place finish marked the 2nd best all-time for the program.  Chesaning finished runner-up state champions in 2005.  Skaryd's 3rd place finish individually is tied for the best all-time in program history.  Alex Lorencz finished 3rd place overall in 2005.
